Rolan Joni Young Smith 1978 Ranks in the National Black Lawyers Top 100

The National Black Lawyers: Top 100 is pleased to announce that Rolan Joni Young Smith of the law firm Berchem, Moses & Devlin, P.C. in Milford, Connecticut has been selected for inclusion into its Top 100 Black Lawyers, an honor given to only a select group of lawyers for their superior skills and qualifications in the field. Membership in this exclusive organization is limited to the top 100 attorneys in each state or region who have demonstrated excellence and have achieved outstanding results in their careers.

Rolan Joni Young Smith is a Senior Partner at Berchem, Moses & Devlin, P.C., whose law practice concentrates in the areas of Affordable Housing, Community and Economic Development, Commercial Real Estate, Land Use Planning and Zoning, and Public & Municipal Law. She is a graduate of Dartmouth College and American University, Washington College of Law.
Attorney Young Smith was the Macklin Fleming Visiting Lecturer in Law at the Yale University Law School Clinic on Housing and Economic Development from 2002-2003. She was Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority from 2006-2011, and is presently the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Start Community Bank. Attorney Young Smith was a member of the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of Greater New Haven from 2007-2014, and was its Chairperson from 2011-2012. In 2000 she served as the President of the Greater New Haven NAACP. Ms. Young Smith was honored as the Minority Business Person of the Year in 1999 by Business New Haven, and was named one of 20 Noteworthy Women the same year. In 2013 Ms. Young Smith received the Alumni Achievement award from Hamden Hall Country Day School.
