Westover not a Walkover
The match score (Westover 6, Hamden Hall 1) does not reflect the closeness of the contest, nor the high level of play of the Hamden Hall Girls Varsity Tennis Team! Averi Schwartz (Captain, #1 singles) had many stellar points against her opponent, Carolyn Jay. Chrissy Lifton and Janie Motter, at #2 and #3 singles, respectively, also had some of their finest points of the season, Janie in her first set, and Chrissy in her second. Shin-Hae Lee. at #4 singles, played brilliantly, and came very close to taking her second set. At #1 doubles, the Massey twins, Morgan and Taylor, powered through to earn the only winning match in a thrilling 3 set victory. At # 2 doubles, Simona Fried and Chelsea Fusco split their first and second sets, and narrowly lost their third set. Both players showed great teamwork, determination, and tennis skill. Finally, Abby Ginsberg and Lucy Greger-Moser played some great points, with excellent rallies. The sun and the wind made play at Westover more challenging, but all in all, it was a great match against a strong team.
