Season Opener Victory for Boys’ Varsity Water Polo
The Boys’ Varsity Water Polo Team traveled to St. John’s Prep School in Danvers, Mass., for its first match of the season on Saturday, September 19, winning 15-9.
Senior and co-captain John Countryman had seven goals, one assist, and one steal followed by freshman Leo Spiegel with three goals. Junior Alister Tsao had two goals, two steals, and one shot block and junior Jace Lieto had two goals, four steals, and one shot block.
Other player highlights include senior and co-captain Jehan Mody with one steal, freshman Demir Basar with one steal, and freshman goalie George Schwarz with 10 saves in the net.
“I am encouraged by the first performance of this young team,” said Coach Martha Phelan.
The team returns to the pool for its first doubleheader home match of the season against Loomis Chaffee School and The Hill School at the Beckerman Athletic Center Natatorium on Saturday, September 26, beginning at 1 p.m.
