Boys’ Varsity Baseball Advances to New England Semifinals
The Boys’ Varsity Baseball Team welcomed St. Luke’s School to the Skiff Street Athletic Complex for the quarterfinal game of the New England Tournament on Monday, May 18, winning 3-0.
Senior and starting pitcher Nic Scillia took the mound for the Hornets, striking out eight players and allowing no earned hits over five innings. Senior Amato Civitello closed out the game, striking out two players and only allowing one hit.
At the plate, Amato went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI and Nic went 1-for 2 with one RBI as senior Billy Cole went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Senior Luca Faulker had two hits, junior Sam Castro had two stolen bases, and freshman Brayden Borelli had one stolen base.
The team returns to the field for the semifinal game of the New England Tournament against Berwick Academy on Wednesday, May 20, at the University of Saint Joseph in Hartford at 4:30 p.m.
