Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse Advances to FAA Championship

The Boys' Varsity Lacrosse Team traveled to Rye Country Day School for the semifinal game of the Fairchester Athletic Association League Tournament on Tuesday, May 12, winning 18-13.
The Hornets came out firing in the first quarter and took a 5-3 lead as Rye battled through the second quarter to hold the score to 9-8 at halftime. The tight battle continued in the third, with Hamden Hall extending the lead slightly to 13-11. The team then pulled away in the fourth quarter, adding five goals to secure the 18-13 win.

Junior Austin McWeeny led the attack with five goals as junior Gavin Giugno and junior Logan Rapuano each contributed four goals, with Gavin also adding two assists. Sophomore Landon Kalizsewski chipped in three goals. On the playmaking side, eighth-grader Cooper Lily dished out a team-high seven assists to orchestrate the offense.

On the ground, senior Matt Cooper, junior Ben Greenberg, and junior Toby Blackhawk each scooped up 5 ground balls to help control possession. Defensively, the goalie turned in another strong performance with 14 saves, anchoring the defense in a hard-fought road win.
