Class of 2019 Alumna Finds Purpose Through Acts of Service

The pursuit of purpose through acts of service to others has led Class of 2019 alumna Jenna Berens Kregenow to a fulfilling journey as she works as a family service advisor at Maine Catholic Cemeteries within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland.
“As the family service advisor, I aid in cemetery pre-arrangements and at-need arrangements, which entails helping families prepare in making future arrangements for a passing way in the future, or helping grieving families with their cemetery arrangements after a loved one has already passed,” said Jenna.

Jenna is currently pursuing her master’s degree in theology online from Franciscan University. The belief of embracing faith and service extends to her personal life as Jenna and her husband, Aaron Kregenow, are actively involved in their local parish. The couple met in 2020 while Aaron was on the campaign trail for a local politician; he now works for the state house in Augusta. They got married on July 4, 2025, in Lewinston, Maine. As members of the Prince of Peace Parish, Jenna and Aaron organize events for the young adult group, which includes planning what the study, prayer gathering, service project, or fun event will be. She shared that they just held the first young adult group fundraiser ball with a fellow parish.

Jenna graduated from Bates College in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history with a double major in classical and medieval studies. During her time in undergrad, she was actively involved on campus as part of the Bates Christian Fellowship Club and athletics as a four-year member of the Bates Women’s Basketball Team. It was during senior year that Jenna decided she wanted to try a new sport and walked on to the Women’s Track and Field Team and joined the team as a thrower for the spring season.  Her athletic ventures continued as she became involved in the CrossFit community and worked as a coach and trainer. Post-graduation, Jenna played one season with the LA Maples, a Women’s Semi-Pro Basketball Team and two seasons with the Maine Mayhem Women’s Football Team as a tight end and left tackle.

Jenna and Aaron currently reside in Maine. Jenna shares that they have recently closed on a house and will be moving next month in June. Additionally, she wants to continue growing the Young Adult Ministry in the parish and personally would like to be a homemaker/stay-at-home mom with a homestead.

As Jenna shares reflections on her life, she looks back at her time at Hamden Hall fondly and notes how well she was prepared for college due to the academic structure and class offerings within Upper School. She credits former history teacher Keith Gonnelly for sparking her personal interest in the Middle Ages time period as a student in his classes her freshman and sophomore year.
