Family Law Firm Suits Dimitri Skuret 2013

He’s practiced law in New York and Massachusetts, but Dimitri Skuret 2013 seems to fit best in our Connecticut courtrooms given his family history.
Dimitri said he saw the world from a legal perspective at a very young age given that both his father, uncle, and grandfather were all attorneys. As a teenager, he even got to sit in the conference room during depositions.

“The legal landscape certainly shaped my upbringing and molded my world view,” he said. “Since I was a young boy, I always looked up to my father as a role model and my grandfather as well.”

These days, Dimitri said he’s able to give his grandfather a hug each day when he’s in the office, and the two have worked a couple of cases together as the first-chair attorney, who acts as the lead counsel, and the second-chair attorney.

In 1967, Dimitri’s grandfather, Daniel D. Skuret, established the family law firm, The Law Offices of Daniel D. Skuret, P.C., in Ansonia. Once out of law school, Dimitri’s father, Hamden Hall alumnus Daniel “D.J.” Skuret III, Class of 1988, joined the firm as did his brother, Patrick D. Skuret.

Dimitri returned to the family fold after working at law firms in New York City, Rhode Island, and Boston.

“The more places I worked at, now coming back to Connecticut with my family, I get to learn from them but I’m also able to add in a new perspective in terms of the way other places run things and the way they organize,” said Dimitri.

In June 2025, Dimitri became licensed to practice law in his home state of Connecticut. According to his father, Dimitri worked four trials in six months and has brought a plethora of ideas and initiatives to the firm, all of which have been implemented.

“It’s been great having him here,” said D.J. “He’s doing an awesome job and he’s smarter than me and more handsome than me. I just feel bad about the long hours.”

In fact, both father and son oftentimes work 80 to 100 hours a week. So much so, that they’re installing a gym facility into a building on their property in order that they can get in a work out between client meetings, filing motions, taking depositions, and other legal responsibilities. Even Dimitri’s grandfather works a six-day week when he’s not wintering in Florida.

While the firm started as a general practice, it has morphed into a workers’ compensation and personal injury agency; although since it’s a family-owned operation, Dimitri said he is able to veer off into other legal territory.
“That’s the nice aspect of a family firm – if there’s something you’re interested in, they encourage me to get involved,” said Dimitri.

The firm also performs pro bono services to offer free legal assistance and has been involved in a number of precedent-setting cases in terms of the law and garnering effective change.
Outside of the courtroom, Dimitri enjoys traveling with his brother, Hamden Hall alumnus Daniel D. Skuret IV, Class of 2010, and his father. The whole family, which includes sister Janina, Hamden Hall Class of 2022, will travel this summer to Poland to a small village in which the family can trace its roots. Father and son also enjoy attending heavy metal and rock concerts.

In his Milford apartment, Dimitri shares the space with Loki, his New Caledonian gargoyle gecko. To ensure a safe and comfortable environment for Loki, Dimitri created a biome that is all biodegradable and home to live plants and insects.

“It’s a lot of fun to provide this home for this animal,” he said.

Dimitri entered Hamden Hall in the sixth grade and recalled making a conscious decision in his sophomore year to amp up his academic focus and acumen.

“Hamden Hall taught me good habits, and I found college to be not as challenging because my time in high school prepared me,” he said.

A graduate of Fairfield University in 2017, Dimitri went on to attend law school at St. John’s University School of Law and received his juris doctorate in 2020.

Now firmly rooted in the family law firm, Dimitri said he’s seeing clients who are the children and grandchildren of patrons who sought legal advice and representation from his grandfather.

“We have that family aspect and are working with generations of people, and I appreciate that,” he maintained.
