Boys’ Varsity Baseball Slides Past League Rival
The Boys’ Varsity Baseball Team traveled to Greenwich Country Day School for a league game on Monday, April 20, winning 12-1.
Taking the field, senior and starting pitcher Nic Scillia pitched five innings, striking out 10 players and only allowing one run on three hits. Freshman Drew Anderson closed out the game in the sixth inning, striking out two players with no earned hits or runs.
At the plate, Nic had two RBIs and senior Amato Civitello had one RBI and one run. Senior Billy Cole went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, a double, and two runs; junior Jey Scanlon went 3-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs, and four runs; junior Leo Dottori went 2-for-3 with two runs; and junior Brian Anderson had one double and one run.
Coach Brad Chernovetz noted that the team record is now 12-3 for the season and 7-1 in FAA league play.
The team returns to the field for a rematch game against Greenwich Country Day School at the Skiff Street Athletic Complex on Thursday, April 23, at 4:30 p.m.
