Co-ed Varsity Swimming and Diving Win CISAC Championship
The Co-ed Varsity Swimming and Diving Team competed in the Connecticut Independent School Athletic Conference (CISAC) Championships on Wednesday, February 18, and defended its titles with the Boys’ Team scoring 407 points and the Girls’ Team scoring 410. The team also secured the Combined Team Championship with a combined score of 817.
The CISAC Championship was hosted at the Beckerman Athletic Center Natatorium against Westover School, Williams School, MacDuffie School, and Marianapolis School.
For the Boys’ Team, senior Tyler Tagliarini, juniors Paxon Campbell and Jehan Mody, and freshman Blake Zeitlin placed first in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:34.13. Tyler broke the school record in his 50-Yard leg of the relay. Tyler placed first in the 200-Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:47.44 and the 100-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:04.75. Blake placed first in the 200-Yard IM with a time of 2:15.74 followed by senior Jack Shi in second with a time of 2:20.57. Paxon placed second in the 100-Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:03.82 and the 50-Yard Freestyle with a time of 23.93.
For the Girls’ Team, freshman Rosemary White placed first in the 500-Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:26.21 followed by seventh-grader Cassidy Clapp in second with a time of 5:47.39. Junior Alessandra Sticca placed first in the 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:07.22 and second in the 200-Yard IM with a time of 2:34.45. Eighth-grader Skyler Yang placed first in both the 50-Yard Freestyle with a time of 26.43 and the 100-Yard Freestyle with a time of 59.25.
For the 1 meter diving, eighth-grader Russell Clune placed first with a score of 220.30 and broke his own six-dive school record with seventh-grader Mason Ryalls in second with a score of 185.65. Sophomore Phoebe Roness placed first with a score of 149.30 for the Girls’ Team.
“The Hamden Hall Hornets delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 CISAC Championship, with both the boys’ and girls’ teams successfully defending their CISAC titles,” said Coach Jen Lyman. “The meet was filled with personal bests, clutch relay swims, and tremendous team spirit from start to finish. The Hornets rose to the occasion when it mattered, proving once again why they are continued CISAC champions.”
The team returns to the pool for the Fairchester Athletic Association Tournament with the Diving Championship on Friday, February 20, at Brunswick School followed by the Swimming Championship on Saturday, February 21, at Hopkins School.
