Co-ed Varsity Swimming and Diving Victorious at Tri-Mee

The Co-ed Varsity Swimming and Diving Team welcomed Kingswood-Oxford School, Williams School, and Marianapolis School for a tri-meet at the Beckerman Athletic Center Natatorium on Wednesday, January 28, with both the Boys’ and Girls’ teams victorious.
For the Boys’ Team, seniors Tyler Tagliarini and Jack Shi, junior Jehan Mody, and freshman Blake Zeitlin placed first in the 200-Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:52.01. Tyler placed first in the 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 59.30, Jack placed first in the 100-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:12.46, and Blake placed first in the 100 Yard-Butterfly with a time of 59.00. Eighth-grader Leo Connors placed second in the 500 Yard-Freestyle with a time of 5:42.19.

The Boys’ Team won 94-65 against Kingswood-Oxford School, 90-39 against Marianapolis, and 74-72 against Williams School. The season record has improved to 5-1 overall.

For the Girls’ Team, freshman Rosemary White finished second in the 200-Yard IM with a time of 2:30.92 and second in the 100-Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:08.65. Seventh-grader Cassidy Clapp placed first in the 200-Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:15.71 followed by junior Alessandra Sticca in third with a time of 2:25.24. Sophomore Angelina Nicotra placed first in the 50-Yard Freestyle with a time of 27.08 and first in the 100-Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:00.35. Sophomore Josephine Nicotra placed second in the 50-Freestyle with a time of 27.60 and second in the 100-Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:02.75.

The Girls’ Team won 95-84 against Kingswood- Oxford, 131-9 against Marianapolis, and 112-54 against Williams School. The season record has improved to 6-1 overall.

For the 1 mtr diving, eighth-grader Russell Clune placed second with a score of 196.25 for the Boy’s Team and sophomore Phoebe Roness placed second with a score of 128.90 for the Girls’ Team.

“It was a great day in the pool for Hamden Hall as both our Boys’ and Girls’ defeated all three teams they competed against,” said Coach Jen Lyman. “They all showed focus, resilience, and a true team-first mindset from start to finish. We are excited to carry this momentum forward as we prepare for the final stretch of the regular season and into post season competition.”

The team stays home at the Beckerman Athletic Center Natatorium for a meet against Hopkins School and Williams School on Wednesday, February 4, at 4 p.m.
