Comeback Win for Girls’ Varsity Volleyball

The Girls’ Varsity Volleyball Team took the court at the Beckerman Athletic Center against Pomfret School on Saturday, September 23, winning 3-2.

It was a back-and-forth match against the Hornets and Griffins as the team won 17-15 in the fifth set following a tie-breaker through four sets. Sophomore IIke Altindas led the match with four aces and 14 kills as junior Tami Afolalu had nine aces and 11 kills and junior Summer Krajcir had 12 kills and 15/15 serving. Junior Theodora Aslan had five aces and sophomore Grace Yang had three assists while eighth-grader Shawna Aurora had six blocks and fellow eighth-graders Anna Aslan and Zhanna Milani had a combined six digs for the game.

“It was an all-team effort for the win; everyone played to their best,” commented Coach Gary Aurora. Coach Aurora noted that the team record is now 5-2.

The team returns to the court for an away match against Greenwich Country Day School on Wednesday, September 27, at 4:30 p.m.
