Charles "Charlie" E. Tiernan Jr., Past Grandparent
Charles "Charlie" E. Tiernan Jr. of Ivoryton died August 26. He was the grandfather of Hamden Hall Alumna Charley Tiernan, Class of 2018. Charlie is survived by his wife of 67 years, Claire, five children, eight grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was born in New Haven and spent his early years in Westville. He served in the US Army. He deployed to Korea where he received the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars. After his service he enrolled in Boston University and graduated in 1958. Charlie held a variety of positions over the years and closed out his career as a purchasing agent at Dutch Wharf Boat Yard, retiring at the age of 62.
