Varsity Baseball Wins NEPSAC Tournament Championship

The Boys’ Varsity Baseball Team won the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Tournament Championship game against Winchendon School on Saturday, May 27, with a score of 4-3.
 
Taking the field at the College of Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., junior and starting pitcher Gavin Lyons took the mound and struck out nine players and allowed no earned runs. Freshman and relief pitcher Amato Civitello earned the game save.
 
At the plate, junior Brady Chernovetz was 2-for-4 as he scored twice for the Hornets. In the bottom of the fifth-inning, senior Kaleb Cohen scored a run on a bases-loaded walk that secured the final victory for the team.
 
This year marks the second consecutive win for the team in the NEPSAC Tournament Championships. The team also earned finalist status in the Fairchester Athletic Association Tournament Championships.
