Boys’ Varsity Baseball Clips the Vikings

The Boys’ Varsity Baseball Team traveled to King School for a game on Tuesday, April 18, winning 10-0.
 
Junior and starting pitcher Gavin Lyons took the mound and dominated with eight strikeouts and only allowed two walks. Junior Will McGarry was 2-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored for the Hornets while freshman Shaun Flannery was 3-for-3 with three RBIs. The game quickly ended following the fifth inning.
 
The team also won its game against Harvey School on Thursday, April 13, with a score of 11-4. Freshman Nicolas Scillia pitched six innings and earned his first varsity victory while fellow freshman Amato Civitello struck out three batters while pitching the seventh inning. Senior Kaleb Cohen added a homerun to the scoreboard as sophomore Asher Wasserman hit his first grand slam to close out the game.

Coach Brad Chernovetz noted that he is proud of how the season is going so far and every player continues to bring their A game to the field. The team record has improved to 6-2 overall with 4-0 in the Fairchester Athletic Association League.
 
The team returns home to the Skiff Street Athletic Complex to play against MacDuffie School on Wednesday, April 19, at 4:30 p.m.
