Weekend Tournament for Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse

The Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse Team opened its season with a weekend tournament hosted by Lexington Christian Academy on Friday, March 31, and Saturday, April 1.
 
During the two-day tournament, the Hornets first faced-off against Cushing Academy, ultimately losing 5-16. The team bounced back in its second game earning a win against Kents Hill School with a score of 14-9. Throughout both games, junior and captain Lily Schoonmaker netted 10 goals for the team while sophomore Ella Bessoni added three. Freshmen Kyla Welby and Anya Cater added a total of four.
Senior goalkeeper Jiao Zhou earned the “Hard Hat” for her performance totaling 14 saves in the net, including 10 against Kents Hill.
 
Coach Emily Anderson noted the team did well despite a few minor setbacks and said everyone looks forward to the rest of the season.
 
The team returns to the field on Wednesday, April 12, at 4:30 p.m. to play against The Gunnery.
