The Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse Team traveled to Lexington Christian Academy on Friday, March 31, for a two-day weekend tournament against Chapel Hill-Chauncey Hall and Kents Hill School.
The first game against Chapel Hill-Chauncey Hall showcased the Hornets' strong defensive line as the match ended 11-0. In the second game, it was a battle between the Hornets and Huskies as the game was condensed due to weather changes. Hamden Hall led throughout the first half of the game before ending with a 4-4 tie. In overtime, the team could not get possession of the ball and fell to Kents Hill with a final score of 5-4.
Throughout the two-day match, senior John Golioto led the team as he scored four goals while junior Tyler Gibson intercepted the offensive sideline for a combined seven takeaways. Junior Andrew Grillo and sophomore Niko Millhouse led the offensive line while freshman Caden Christopher tallied 17 saves in the net and scored his first career shutout.
“The team was poised for the season opener and proved that our earnings from a long pre-season are paying off,” said Coach Kiernan Griffin. “The Hornets were methodical and played well on both ends of the field.”
The team returns to the field on Monday, April 3, at 4:30 p.m. to face off against Wilbraham & Monson Academy.
