The Boys’ Varsity Basketball Team won its first game of the new year against Rocky Hill School of Rhode Island on Saturday, January 7, with a score of 51-48.
The team returned home to the Beckerman Athletic Center ready to begin the second half of the season. Sophomore point guard Ben Miller worked the floor to find the open shot opportunities and tallied 16 points while senior and captain Matteo Crisanti along with senior Alex Puhl and junior Ryan Stratton controlled the defensive end and tallied a combined 21 points to help secure the victory.
“We played as a team and everyone stepped up,” said sophomore Ben Miller. “We have a bunch of guys who can contribute in different ways to get the win and that’s what we did today.”
Coach Sean Doherty commented that the win was a nice way to start out the year and players had great performances on the court.
The team returns to the court to face off against Fairchester Athletic Association League rival Rye Country Day on Tuesday, January 10, at 4 p.m.
