"Ernie was my chemistry teacher in 1952-53. I developed a huge
crush on him at 16 that never ended. We stayed in touch by snail mail
over the years. He visited with us in California a couple of times and enjoyed
going to choir rehearsals with me. And, of course, I visited with him
whenever I went back to Connecticut and was happy to make a large donation to the
athletic field built in Ernie's honor."
