Boys’ Varsity Baseball Team Wins Season Opener
The Boys’ Varsity Baseball team got off to a strong start in their season opener against Winchendon School at Beckerman Athletic Center on Wednesday, March 30.
The Boys’ Varsity Baseball team got off to a strong start in their season opener against Winchendon School at Beckerman Athletic Center on Wednesday, March 30.
Taking the field, the Hornets and Wapitis met for their first and only match-up of the season. Starting pitcher senior Cameron Maldonado dominated the first five innings striking out 10 players and only allowing a single hit.
The line-up turned in strong performances at the plate including a two-run home run by Cameron and sophomore Brady Chernovetz plating three home runs. Sophomore Ryan Lynch took the mound as the closing pitcher to end the game and secure the 5-2 win over their opponents.
Coach Brad Chernovetz noted that he is proud of how well the team played and is excited to begin the full season.
The Hornets are back in action against Cheshire Academy on Friday, April 1, at 4:30 p.m.
