Girls’ Varsity Basketball Shines at Rose Classic Super Jam
The Girls’ Varsity Basketball team returned to the court for a mid-season non-league game on Sunday.
The Girls’ Varsity Basketball team returned to the court for a mid-season non-league game on Sunday.
The team traveled to Brooklyn, N.Y., to face off against the New Hope Academy Lady Tigers in the Rose Classic Super Jam ultimately winning 57-38.
The first half of the match was a back-and-forth effort with strong defensive runs and rebound plays by the Hornets. By the third period, the team rallied together to pull away securing the victory.
“It was a great event and atmosphere,” said Coach Brian Johnson. “It was a great team effort and we look forward to continuing the momentum.”
It was a special night as a few select players earned awards. Senior Ellie Moffat received the Scholar Athlete Award, junior Rayne Durant received the Sportsmanship Award, and junior Jayda Johnson received the Most Valuable Player Award.
