Boys’ Varsity Basketball Delivers Comeback Victory

Hamden Hall faced off against Rye Country Day School on Saturday afternoon where the team delivered a victorious comeback to win 73-67.

 

The Hornets and Wildcats were neck-and-neck throughout the game with senior and co-captain Carson Benigni putting up 20 points, but strong offensive action by the Wildcats led to a 13-point deficit for the Hornets. 

 

Action came down to the final period with junior Matteo Crisanti gaining momentum on the defensive plays and other starters scoring double points for the team to power through to victory.

 

“I’m very proud of the toughness our team showed and to not give into adversity,” said co-captain and senior Tyler Callahan. “The last eight minutes of the game, we played our best basketball all year. I could not be more proud of the team.”

 

Coach Sean Doherty said he is proud of the comeback victory and the team had an outstanding all-around performance.

 

The Hornets are off for Winter Break, but return to the court on Jan. 5, 2022, at 4:30 p.m. against the Gunnery.
