2009 Alumnus Talks Sports

Jodi Amatulli
Nolan Rich, Class of 2009 and host of Rich Sports Talk, recently interviewed fellow Hamden Hall alumnus Christian Montano, Class of 2014, on his entry into the NFL. Christian recently signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a free agent.
The former Tulane University football player is among a long list of guests that Nolan has profiled on his multimedia production featured on multiple podcasting networks and YouTube.
Nolan explained that Rich Sports Talk started as a local weekly sports talk show on Muhlenberg College’s WMUH radio station during his student days. Nolan graduated from Muhlenberg in 2014 with a degree in business administration. He continued his education at Quinnipiac University, earning a master’s in broadcasting and sports journalism. He is a production assistant at ESPN.
As for his Rich Sports Talk, Nolan says the show features unique sports stories varying from sports analysis to in-depth features. “The goal is to continue to grow into developing media outlets and audience expansion. I'm looking forward
to finding new stories and people who have a great story to feature.”
Christian is among Nolan’s three “favorite” interviews thus far. The other guests include Peter Good and Alex Yood.
Nolan talked with Peter Good, creator of the Hartford Whalers “iconic logo,” about the history and making of the symbol and why it endures despite the franchise not existing since 1997.
Alex Yood is a sophomore at the University of Michigan and talked with Nolan about realizing his dream of being a football coach. “We talked about how Miami Dolphins coach Brian Flores helped him while he was in high school, how is helping at the University of Michigan, and being able to do all of this with cerebral palsy.”
Nolan continued that “Christian was great because the channel features a lot of NFL Draft content, especially mock drafts.” Nolan said he “loves the draft process” and wanted to get Christian’s insight on how that process was impacted by COVID-19—what a virtual offseason has been like at home for him and his fellow rookies.
