Hamden Hall Country Day School was pleased to welcome Betty Lou Blumberg “back home” for the English Department’s annual Visiting Writers program on April 5. Poet Marilyn Nelson was our special guest at the invitation of English Dept. Chair Paul Gustafson.

The program is supported by the Betty Lou Blumberg Endowed Chair of English, a fund made possible thanks to the generosity of hundreds of donors—three decades of alumni, along with countless colleagues, family, and friends.

The Endowed Chair allows the English Department to conduct workshops and host lectures that make an impact on our students and help Hamden Hall maintain the standard of excellence that Betty Lou embodied for 30 years in the classroom, from 1971 to 2001.

The Endowed Chair, established in 2016, will continue to grow and allow Betty Lou’s teaching legacy to live on forever at Hamden Hall. To make a gift to the ongoing fund, please click here: https://www.hamdenhall.org/giving/give-today
