Alumni Meet at Track & Field Contest

Jodi Amatulli
Austin DiMartino, Class of 2015, crossed paths with Martin Beatty, Class of 1980, at the Men’s Track & Field New England Division III Championships in Cambridge, Mass., in early May. Austin is a junior at Connecticut College and a member of the Camel’s men's track & field program that placed 22nd among 30 scoring teams at the weekend competition. While there, Austin met Martin, head coach of track and field at Middlebury College. At the competition, Austin scored the first points for the Connecticut Camels by finishing fourth in the decathlon with a personal-best 5,222 points. He most notably finished second in the 100-meter dash in 11.75 seconds, as well as the high jump by clearing the bar that was raised at 5-feet, 8-75-inches. Congratulations, Austin! By the way, the Hamden Hall alumni made eye contact when the DiMartino family recognized Martin after seeing his photo in a recent ALUMNI BUZZ in Hamden Hall Happenings. Another small world sighting!
