Bun Lai 1988 is Honored Finalist

Congratulations to Bun Lai, Class of 1988, and the team behind the movie, Blind Sushi, on being named a 2018 finalist for the James Beard Foundation Awards in the category of Best Documentary. Bun is owner of Miya’s—“The First Sustainable Sushi Restaurant on Earth” as the website states! Blind Sushi tells the story of Bun’s family's work at Miya's. In the photo, Bun is pictured with Blind Sushi filmmaker Eric Heimbold and writer Ryan Knighton. “It truly takes a village,” Bun said. Previous honors for Bun include being named a 2013 James Beard nominee in the category of Best Chef, and the sole chef to win a 2016 Sustainability Award from President Barack Obama. On a lighter note, Bun quips he is #383 on Mental Floss' 500 Most Important People in History!
