Lindy Lee Gold 1962 on Alumni Council

The Hamden Hall Country Day School Alumni Association is pleased to welcome Lindy Lee Gold, Class of 1962, as an “official” member of the council. Lindy, of New Haven, Conn., has been an active and invaluable asset to Hamden Hall Alumni Relations for many years, always stepping up to help plan reunions and participating across the board—not only as a donor, but carving out time from her astonishingly busy professional and civic schedule to serve Hamden Hall as a volunteer.
In 2002, it was Lindy’s idea to organize a Saturday morning roundtable discussion during reunion weekend where celebrants enjoyed a meaningful conversation that she dubbed “lifelong learning.” The event was so well received that the tradition continues today for our milestone celebrants who return “back home” for what now is a Friday afternoon luncheon on campus—targeted to alumni celebrating 50+ reunion years. We’re looking forward to Lindy’s leadership as we plan 2017 Reunion in October, and we’re proud to list her among the 2012 Hamden Hall Alumni Achievement Award recipients.

Lindy, a well-know entity in the Connecticut State Department of Economic and Community Development, serves as a senior development specialist, a position she had held since 1998. Lindy is responsible for business retention, recruitment, development and expansion. She provides state government representation to local and regional boards, agencies and governments; facilitates constituent relations with state government; and represents the commissioner on all workforce development and education boards and commissions.
Prior to joining the state office, Lindy was director of development and community relations for Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Connecticut State Office. Her professional background also includes work in the travel and investment industries, as well as devoting efforts to directing and coordinating development and renovation of low and middle income housing.

Lindy’s civic accomplishments are expansive and include service on the Gateway Community College Foundation, having served as a member of the foundation’s board of directors since 2007 and past chair. She also serves on the state board of the Anti-Defamation League; as an associate fellow at Yale’s Pierson College; and on the boards of the Arts Council, the United Way of Greater New Haven and the Jewish Foundation. Additionally, Lindy serves on the Cultural Affairs Commission City of New Haven; Southern Connecticut State University Foundation Board of Directors; the Housatonic Community College Foundation Board of Directors; and Connecticut Health Investigative Team (C-HIT) board.

In the past, Lindy has served on the Shubert Performing Arts Center’s Executive Board; the New Haven Board of Education, where her volunteer work included being vice chair of the Intergroup Relations Taskforce; the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven, where she was president and chair of community relations; and two terms on the New Haven Board of Aldermen. She also was founder and the first female president of Fellowship Inc. and Cornerstone Inc., and is past president of the Jewish Community Center of Greater New Haven.

Lindy has one son, Joshua Kroop, and a grandson, Ari John Kroop. Lindy’s three sisters attended Hamden Hall—Jacqueline 1959, Patricia 1960 and Lauren (who left to attend another school). Lindy earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication from Emerson College.

Lindy has been honored by the Urban League of Southern Connecticut Community Service Award-2013; Business New Haven-Citizen of the Year 2013; The Connection-Lifetime Achievement Award-2012; New Haven Public School Foundation Legacy Award-2010; Yale University/City of New Haven Elm and Ivy Award-2008; Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven-Community Service Award 2000; Boys and Girls Club of Greater New Haven-Community Service Award 2000; Casa Otonal Board of Directors-Certificates of Recognition 1996,1997,1998,1999 Annual Award 2000; Volunteer Action Center –Certificate of Recognition 1996, 1998; B’nai B'rith Youth Organization-Community Service Award 1996; WorkPlace, Inc.-Professional of the Year Award 2003; Jewish Community Center-Presidential Award 1995; Kovod Society 1976; Cornerstone Inc.- Annual Humanitarian Award 1995; Camp Laurelwood-Presidential Award 1995; Connecticut State Anti-Defamation League-Community Relations Award 1995; Athena Award from Norwalk Chamber of Commerce; and Annual Award Connecticut Coalition for Environmental Justice.
