Girls’ Varsity Basketball Wins NEPSAC Championship

The Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team won the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Championship on Sunday, March 5, beating Wilbraham and Monson Academy 64-56.

It was a back-and-forth effort between the Hornets and Titans throughout the whole game. Both teams traded leads before seniors Eveani Okwuosa and Rayne Durant took advantage of rebound opportunities to add a combined 17 points to the scoreboard in the final quarter. Sophomore Emma Olausson tallied 11 points while fellow sophomore Payton Collins sank free throws to help secure the final victory.

“What an exciting up-tempo game and overall season,” commented Coach Brian Johnson. “Through the ups and downs, the team stayed resilient and played with heart. I am so proud to be their coach.”

According to Coach Johnson, Rayne earned the NEPSAC C Championship Game MVP Award and Eveani earned the Defensive Player of the Year Award. Also, Rayne, Eveani, Emma, and Jayda had been selected to play in the NEPSAC C All Star Game, in which the team beat the East Squad.
