Girls’ Varsity Basketball Advances to the FAA Semifinal

The Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team returned to the Beckerman Athletic Center for the first game of the Fairchester Athletic Association League Tournament against Greenwich Academy on Tuesday, February 21, winning 60-17.

Prior to the game, the four senior players: Josie Cancro, Rayne Durant, Jayda Johnson, and Eveani Okwuosa were honored for their contributions to the team over the last four years.

“Coaching these girls has been a wonderful opportunity," commented Coach Brian Johnson. “Their dedication and work ethic is unmatched, and I am proud to know they are pursuing collegiate basketball. I know they will be successful on all fronts.”

On the court, the Hornets came out of the gate strong and led the Gators throughout the whole game. Rayne and Josie tag-teamed to protect the defensive line while sophomore Emma Olausson maintained ball pressure and successfully passed to Eveani for scoring opportunities.

The team advanced to the semifinals against Greens Farms Academy on Thursday, February 23, at 4:45 p.m.
