Educational Doctoral Program for 1998 Alumnus and Lifer

The interest of learning and passion for education remains steadfast for Class of 1998 alumnus and Lifer Scott Sheridan as he currently serves as the Lower and Middle School Educational Technology Integration Specialist at Westtown School, a K-12 boarding school in West Chester, Penn.

“I’ve been into education and learning for a while now,” said Scott. “I think that my experiences at Hamden Hall likely had something to do with that.”

Following his graduation from Bates College in 2002 where he obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in teaching, he moved to Germany to teach English as an ESL instructor for TUDIAS (Technical University Dresden Institute of Advanced Studies). After two years, he returned to Connecticut and took a teaching position at Cheshire High School before working as the EdTech Manager at Marianapolis Preparatory School. He joined Westtown School for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Scott earned his master’s degree in educational psychology from the University of Connecticut and is currently enrolled at the University of Delaware where he is studying Learning Science with the plan to graduate this summer with his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree. He and his wife Bei Zhang currently live in Chester County, Penn., as they both work at Westtown School. The couple met while working at Marianapolis together and celebrated their 9th and 10th wedding anniversaries in the summer of 2022. Why two wedding dates? Scott and Bei actually married twice - once in the United States and once in China!

During his time at Hamden Hall, Scott was a tri-sport athlete as a member of the Varsity Football, Hockey, and Lacrosse teams. He later returned for a year in 2009 as the coach for the Junior Varsity Volleyball Team. Besides coaching, Scott also filled in as a substitute teacher.

Scott will be re-shirted during a special Alumni Lifer celebration on campus during our annual Lifers' Shirting Assembly in February. Along with his four classmates who were shirted 25 years ago, Scott will once again don a special T-shirt commemorating his longevity within our halls.
