Production Company Magic for Class of 2012 Alumnus

Class of 2012 alumnus Evan O’Connor has joined the team at Disney Television Animation Studios as a post-production coordinator.

his role, Evan and his team work together to deliver the Disney TV Animation shows The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, Phineas and Ferb, Monsters at Work, Mickey Mouse Funhouse, and Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur to the broadcast networks in a seamless manner. To ensure the smooth transition, his daily tasks include creating and formatting post-production schedules for each show, fielding content requests and user access through the internal digital library, maintaining the office calendar for the department executive, and tracking episodic delivery through the Quality Control process.

“I've loved watching film and television for as long as I can remember,” said Evan. “When I began taking production classes in high school, I realized that video editing was a fun and promising direction for me to pursue in production. I loved assembling video clips while applying effects and other edits to convey a meaningful story.”

Following his college graduation, Evan moved to Los Angeles where he began interning and working part-time at post-production facilities such as Roush Media and Moviola. Over the course of two years, he dedicated his time to networking with fellow working professionals in the post-production field to learn more about the industry and the skills necessary to succeed. In the summer of 2018, he began working as the Assistant to the Post Production VP at NBCUniversal Media, LLC.

Evan noted that he feels fortunate to have worked on various projects over the years and his favorite thus far has been working on The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder series. He commented that it felt “super gratifying to help deliver a show that I grew up watching as a kid and having the chance to provide creative input for a program that's both funny and informative was rewarding”

While attending Hamden Hall, Evan found a supportive network of teachers that helped him hone his creative thinking skills and effectively communicating solutions, which he noted were the building blocks to jump start his career in film production.

Evan graduated from Union College in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and a double minor in Film Studies and Spanish. He currently lives in Los Angeles, Calif., and looks forward to continuing his work in post-production.
