The Boys of '82

Friends since sixth- and seventh-grade, the boys of the Class of 1982 never miss a year to congregate and reconnect. This year, the crew met in July at the Capital Grill in Stamford for their annual dinner. Since starting a fantasy football pool more than a decade ago, collections and disbursements from that seasonal activity are also on the agenda.

“We've all stayed close since high school graduation,” said Herb Emanuelson 1982. “Besides occasional dinners in smaller pairings and an ongoing text string, we always get together at least once a year as a large group at events such as coming home from college in the summer, alumni weekend football games, alumni golf tournaments, a weekend at Foxwoods when we all turned 50, and whenever Hank (a.k.a. Gary Greenberg1982 ) would come back from California in the summer.”

Even the global pandemic didn’t stop this crew. Last summer’s gathering took place over Zoom.

“At these dinners, we go around the table and bring each other up to date on our lives. It's become a wonderful, hysterical, and loud tradition that we look forward to each year. Through good times and tough times, we remain brothers from other mothers,” maintained Herb.
