David Scott 1982 Opens Timely Business with New Wife

A few months ago, David Scott, Class of 1982, responded to an invitation from Hamden Hall to have ear savers sent to his employees to help them with their work during COVID-19. David and his wife, Caroline Lacasse, opened up a business called Bio-One of Tucson in July 2019. David explained that Bio-One specializes in all types of cleanup including blood cleaning, death cleaning, murder, suicide, crime scene, and homicide cleanup in the Tucson area and throughout Arizona.
When David learned on Facebook that Hamden Hall was 3D printing “ear-saver adapters” to ease discomfort among hospital workers who wore face masks during long shifts as they fought the COVID-19 pandemic, he thought his employees could also benefit.  The adapters take the pressure of the mask off workers’ ears and help prevent irritation and chafing. Hamden Hall’s Chris Buckley, a technician in the school’s MakerSpace Design Lab, found that he was able to produce five to six of the strap holders every two hours on the school’s 3D printers. Chris trained Hamden Hall Middle Schoolers who helped produce several hundred ear savers that were distributed to the medical staffs at Yale New Haven Hospital, Chicago’s Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital, New York’s Westchester Medical Center, and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. With Bio-One employees working on the frontlines of cleaning up trauma and crime scenes in the midst of the coronavirus, David was grateful to receive a supply of the ear savers.
On the personal front, David and Caroline moved to Tucson to care for his parents in March 2018. On Sept. 2, 2018, the couple married at Congregation B’nai Jacob in Woodbridge, Conn. David’s best man was his 1982 Hamden Hall classmate David Brause.
Prior to starting his new life in Arizona with Caroline, David owned a property maintenance company in Waterbury.
Recalling his days at Hamden Hall, he said his “best memory is Mrs. Blumberg’s English class!” (He also quipped that he kept it under raps that Betty Lou was actually his cousin.) After Hamden Hall, David earned a Bachelor of Science in financial management from Quinnipiac University. Thanks to David for the update and keep safe!
