2016 Alumnus Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant
Cadet Austin Aitro, Class of 2016, was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S Air Force Academy during its April 18 Class of 2020 graduation ceremony. Austin was awarded a Bachelor of Science in systems engineering with an aeronautical focus.
He will be working with the 1st Operations Group at Langley AFB in Virginia while he awaits undergraduate pilot training.

Because of the coronavirus, the ceremony that was originally scheduled for May 28, will be live-streamed at 1 p.m. EST. Sending Austin virtual cheers will be his parents, Fred and Vicki Aitro; his sister, Samantha, Class of 2021; and his grandfather, Anthony Aitro, 85, a U.S. Army veteran who will give Austin his first virtual salute during the ceremony.
