Equestrians Mount Up for Second Season

Bud Kohler
Faculty coach, Ms. Jennifer Manley, an accomplished equestrian (and horse whisperer), is extremely excited to have a full roster of riders, including three new team members: Alexandra Garvey '23, Reige Huang '23, and Ashley Hu '22. The advanced, or varsity, group is working on perfecting their canter and incorporating dressage into their riding, with an emphasis on controlling their pace and steering their horses effectively while maintaining their gait.

The first trail ride into the wilderness will take place in October, and the team is also looking forward to a Horse Show in November. Ms. Manley relates that the horsemanship skills each rider is building this season is a testament to their dedication to the sport; however, despite what some may assume, it's not only about riding. “Mucking stalls, grooming horses, tacking and untacking, bathing, setting poles, and helping each other mount and dismount are all crucial to the success and efficiency of each practice. I'm excited about the progress of each of our riders, and I look forward to seeing their progress throughout the season.”
