A Hornet Soccer Family Affair

Jodi Amatulli
Hamden Hall history teacher and coach Bud Kohler (third from left) and Class of 1984 alumnus and past parent, John Vigliotti (third from right,) recently played together on the North Branford Legends over ‘50s soccer team in the Shoreline Adult Soccer League. Mr. Kohler plays in goal and John is the same kind of offensive threat (as he was when playing as a Hamden Hornet!). Also in the picture are John' wife, Mary Rose; daughter Vivian, Class of 2012, who played on the Hamden Hall 2009 New England championship team and went on to play at Connecticut College; son Alex, Class of 2015, who just graduated from Providence College where he played soccer. Anne Kohler is the HHCDS Middle School girls coach, while Riley, Class of 2020, and Liam, Class of 2021, both play on the Hornet’s varsity squads. That's a lot of Hamden Hall soccer in one photo, Mr. Kohler quips. He adds that the Legends won 4-1 against the Southbury Boomers. To quote the Patriots, Mr. Kohler playfully adds "Still Here!”
