Dr. Caitlin Farrell 2005 Reflects on Health Care

Jodi Amatulli
Dr. Caitlin Farrell, Class of 2005, recently reflected on her career and life in an article published by the American Medical Association (AMA). Earlier in the year, Caitlin said that she has never been one for New Years resolutions. “As someone whose life still operates on an academic calendar, I usually instead take New Years as a time of pause and reflection. As I think back on the past year (2018), I am saddened by so many of the events that took place; children separated from their parents, gunfire unleashed in hospitals and schools, and the inequality that persists in our country.
By far, one of the best parts of my year was being part of the American Medical Association. At a national conference, I saw numerous other physicians from every state in the nation and a spectrum of specialties speak passionately on issues affecting our patients. We passed sweeping legislation against gun violence and are working to end maternal mortality. I personally advocated to improve the care of incarcerated patients. Being part of the #AMA, seeing other residents, fellows, and attendings spend their free time fighting to improve the lives of others, fills me with joy and hope for the future.
I am proud and honored to be a member of the #AMA. I can truly say that #MembersMoveMedicine.”
