Hamden Hall Football Program Joins Evergreen League

Hamden Hall’s famed football program has joined the Evergreen Football League beginning with the 2019 season.

The Evergreen League hosts 16 prep schools throughout the New England area that value sportsmanship, talent and athletic ability among their student-athletes. Hamden Hall will play in the top tier of the league, along with St. Paul's School, Berkshire School, and New Hampton School.

The decision to apply to the new league was an easy one for Hamden Hall, whose program under Varsity Head Coach Joe Linta has produced two New England championship football teams in the past three years. Coach Linta's overall record for his eight years with Hamden Hall is 53-24-1 and includes four New England Championship games.

“Hamden Hall’s football program strives for excellence on the field – just as we do in the classroom. The Evergreen League presents a positive opportunity for our program to succeed among a field of qualified, reputable schools that mirror Hamden Hall’s philosophy of a sound mind in a sound body,” said Athletic Director David Doyle.

Historically at Hamden Hall, 10 percent of the graduating senior class continues on in college to compete athletically at the Division I and III level. With the Class of 2018, nearly 20 percent of those students currently play sports at the collegiate level.

Hamden Hall will have an eight-game schedule during the regular season of the 2019-2020 school year.

Other schools in the Evergreen Football League include Kingswood Oxford School, King School, Dexter School, Pingree School, St. Luke's School, Proctor Academy, Canterbury School, Portsmouth Abbey School, Albany Academy, Cushing Academy, Tilton School, Wilbraham and Monson Academy.
