Regional Music Festival To Showcase Choral and Instrumental Students
Choral and instrumental students in the Upper School Music Department have earned recognition for their talent and dedication to the craft as 24 vocalists and five instrumentalists earned placement in the Southern Regional Honor Choirs and Honors Orchestra and Band following successful auditions.
The choral student representatives for Mixed Choir include seniors Flynn Carney, Leon Jiang, Evelyn Liu, Tobias Liu, Bruno Massaro, Alex Pu, Jason Xie, Jiali Yang, and Perry Yang; junior Bethel Desta; sophomores Abella Chang, Clara Garcia-Gallet, William Lin, Trista Luan, and Trin Sukduang; and freshmen Austin Zhou and Alina Zhu. The choral representatives for the Treble Choir include seniors Luca Correa, Alma Goren-Eisenberg, and Paula Wang; sophomores Anna Aslan, Kristina Carlson, and Madelon Parke; and freshman Claire Wang.
Upper School Vocal Director Matt Harrison shared that Hamden Hall achieved a 100 percent vocal success rate at auditions for this year. Additionally, three senior vocalists: Flynn as a soprano, Jiali as an alto, and Jason as a bass, have been selected to the All-Regional Honor Choirs during all four years that they auditioned.
The instrumental student representatives include seniors Victor Ma on percussion for Orchestra and Andrew Yang on trumpet for Concert Band; junior Allison Yang on violin for Orchestra; and freshmen Kinan Harb on violin for Orchestra and Julie Wang on violin for Orchestra.
Upper School Instrumental Director Melissa Hudson noted that this is Andrew's fourth year in Regionals, and the third year for both Victor and Allison.
“I’m proud of them representing Hamden Hall and of all the students who auditioned; these talented musicians took on the extra challenge of preparing advanced solos for their instruments to audition, and they consistently show their dedication to our music program at Hamden Hall. ,” said Ms. Hudson.
The students will now compete in the Southern Region High School Music Festival sponsored by the Connecticut Music Educators’ Association on January 16 and 17, 2026, at Middletown High School. The students will join 40 other schools throughout the region at the festival and now qualify to audition for the Connecticut All-State Festival that will take place next spring.
