European Family Adventure for Hamden Hall Alumni

Class of 1989 alumna Kelley McDevitt Hooker and her husband, Class of 1988 alumnus Steve Hooker, embarked on a European vacation this past summer to France and the United Kingdom.

The trip was part of their son Michael’s college graduation gift as he graduated magna cum laude from Central Connecticut State University with a bachelor’s degree in finance. They reunited with their daughter Katie as she had been studying aboard in Toulouse, France. Katie is currently a senior at the University of Connecticut where she earned a prestigious Nutmeg Scholarship and is studying molecular/cell biology and minoring in French.

It was a family reunion as Kelley noted they were able to spend time her brother James McDevitt, Class of 1985 alumnus, during a visit to Bath, England. James works as a General Manager for the Francis Hotel in Bath and resides in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, with his wife Rachel. During the trip, the group also visited the Tower Bridge in London.

The week prior, James hosted Kelley’s friend Felicia Cuomo, fellow Class of 1989 alumna. Felicia and her family were in England and enjoyed a tour of the area with James.

Kelley and Steve currently live in Guilford, Conn. Formerly a fifth-grade teacher, Kelley left her position to stay home with her children during their formative years. She said she volunteered for many years in their classrooms and even served as president of the PTO for her children’s high school. Kelley now works part time as the manager of a gift shop. Steve is a financial professional with Virtus Investment Partners in Hartford.
