Diversity Planning for New School Year Underway

At Hamden Hall, we challenge our students to develop a strong sense of personal integrity, social responsibility, and a global perspective, while preparing them for demanding academic programs at the collegiate level.

The goals of the Diversity Committee are to work with the entire school community to develop and implement programs to build connections, reduce stereotypes and prejudices on campus, and increase cultural, religious, and racial awareness in a safe environment. Students are expected to respect the diverse interests, talents, and ethnic and cultural backgrounds both at Hamden Hall and in the surrounding community.

In all aspects of our community, from PreSchool through Grade 12, in the classroom and on the fields, our students and faculty maintain respect and embrace difference. In all aspects of learning, the foundation of practicing inclusivity and understanding of others is pervasive and strong. This includes such programming and initiatives as Lower School Mentors, Middle School Advocates, Everyday Democracy, Princeton Peer Leadership, Global Online Academy, and our many clubs and assemblies.

Educational programs planned for this school year include addressing Spanish Cultural Heritage, Chinese New Year, Black History Month, and testimony from a Holocaust survivor. In addition, the Diversity Committee is hopeful to engage presentations on interfaith culture and the truth about hate.

All faculty and students are welcome to participate in the planning and implementation of these programs.
