School Finances
Most of Hamden Hall’s expenses are related to personnel and facility maintenance. A shift to remote instruction does not relieve the school of significant expenses. In the case where we do shift to a hybrid model or go fully remote, resources are moved to cover enhanced
cleaning, safety, and other compliance requirements. If the school must move our learning to a hybrid or fully remote model, our faculty will be prepared with an online program that provides consistency, engagement, and support for all of our students.
Over the summer months the school invested substantial resources in building infrastructure, additional technology, professional development for our teachers, additional faculty and medical staff to ensure cohorts/distancing, and significant health and safety/medical
supplies. In addition, despite our campus being closed for the last quarter of the 2019-2020 school year and the moderate decrease in certain operating expenses, our overall expenses have actually increased. We have seen a decrease in revenue from donations and other
revenue streams while also endeavoring to respond to the demand for financial aid.
Tuition Refund Plan
With many aspects of the program and school year uncertain, and with tuition commitments being fully non-refundable, we suggest that all families consider subscribing to the Tuition Refund Insurance Plan, which provides a 60 percent pro-rated refund upon voluntary withdrawal from school, including for medical reasons after at least 14 consecutive calendar days of in-person attendance. This plan is available to all enrolled Hamden Hall families if elected and paid prior to the opening of school. The cost of the plan is 2.1 percent of the school’s tuition schedule. If families have any doubt about staying with our program for the entire year, we strongly encourage consideration of the Tuition Refund Insurance.
