Yes. All students in Grades K-12 and adults are required to wear face masks. Students will be offered face mask “breaks” throughout the day and do not have to wear them while eating lunch or snack.
Any individual who is not able to wear a mask due to medical reasons must contact the nurse’s office to discuss other options. Please email nurse@hamdenhall.org or call 203.752.2605.
We are closely monitoring the incidence of COVID-19 in Connecticut and the Greater New Haven area and have developed contingency plans up to and including a return to distance learning. Any such
decision would be made in conjunction with the State of Connecticut and the local health agency.
Any decision to close campus will be made in consultation with the State of Connecticut, local and state health agencies, our Board of Trustees and the Hamden Hall leadership team.
Students experiencing symptoms of illness will be assessed by the school nurse. If it is determined that the student is experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19, the student will be placed in isolation and sent home. Each campus is equipped with a health facility and each contains an isolation area. Students will be allowed to return to school once certain guidelines have been met and clearance has been
obtained from the student’s primary care physician.
Yes. Our Extended Day program will be offered to all Lower School students until 4:30 p.m. each day. Students will remain within their cohorts for Extended Day.
Yes. We are currently working with both the Department of Transportation and our bus company to plan for and meet the needs of our students. Families will receive further information on transportation.
Our three playgrounds will be accessible to students in PreSchool/PreKindergarten - Grade 4. They will be cleaned after each group’s use. All Lower School students will have outdoor areas in which to socialize while also physically distancing themselves from each other.
Swain Library will be a common space - among many others - for our Upper School students. The main
portion of the library will be used for study halls. Social distancing in all common areas will be required. The Lower School Library is going mobile! An age-appropriate selection of books will be available for Lower School students to check out on a regular basis.
We expect to find ways to bring our students together in groups. Our primary goal will be health and safety first, but we do hope to create opportunities where some larger gatherings can take place.
