Summer Programs

Summer Academy

Welcome
Summer Academy
Hamden Hall’s Summer Academy welcomes students from all schools to be part of our summer learning community! We offer a wide variety of courses that will enrich students of all ages.

Students who attend Summer Academy will be taught by an outstanding and enthusiastic faculty. The course offerings range from enrichment classes, to introductory courses, to courses for credit.  We keep our class size small to enable students to get the personal attention they deserve.  Mix it up and have your child try our Adventures and Academic program, where students visit museums, explore Connecticut state parks, and swim at our Beckerman Athletic Center.  Summer Academy runs from June 23rd to August 1st. Classes are either 3 or six weeks in length depending on the course.

For students entering grades 1-6 we offer our NEW Adventures and Academics program. Students enrolled in Adventure and Academics participate in a full day of activities starting with academic classes in the morning and adventures in the afternoon. Students engage in swimming at the Beckerman Athletic Center, with craft projects and team building games three days a week. On the other two days students explore local museums and take nature hikes at state parks. The full Adventures and Academics schedule can be found here.

Please note, Adventures and Academics is a separate program from the Hamden Hall Summer Camp.

HAMDEN HALL SUMMER ACADEMY IS CLOSED, FRIDAY, JULY 4th

Summer Academy offers a variety of one to six week courses for students in grades PreK-12. Please note that many of the courses are three weeks in length. This allows each student the opportunity to schedule a variety of activities during the summer months and still have time to spend with their family on vacation. Course description includes times, dates, grade levels and tuition cost per section. Course grade levels are for the grade that your child will be entering in the fall. For updates on course availability, or to discover new offerings which have been added to our catalog, please visit our website at www.hamdenhall.org/summeracademy.

NEW- Adventures and Academics
For students entering grades 1-6 we offer our NEW Adventures and Academics program. Students enrolled in Adventure and Academics participate in a full day of activities starting with academic classes in the morning and adventures in the afternoon. Students engage in swimming at the Beckerman Athletic Center, with craft projects and team building games three days a week. On the other two days students explore local museums and take nature hikes at state parks.

Credit Classes
Any student who wishes to receive credit for a summer academy course should contact the summer academy office and request that a transcript be sent to his/her school. Please be aware that the decision to award credit is made by the school which the student attends during the regular school year. *Eligible Hamden Hall students may also take selected courses for credit. Successful completion of a credit course allows a Hamden Hall student to advance to the next level of the course in September. It does not reduce the number of courses to be taken that year.
* Departmental permission required prior to registration.

The Swain Library is located on the Hamden Hall Campus and, during summer session, is open each day from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00. Computers are located in the library’s technology center and will be available to students for their use.
