Football Tops Kingswood in Barnburner to Remain Undefeated

Bud Kohler
The win over K-O was the first Fairchester League match-up of the season. Previously the team had handled Longmeadow HS of Springfield, MA 40-28, and bested New England rivals, Pingree School of Hamilton, MA 34-20. In that match up, the visiting Highlanders gave the Hornets all they could handle. In fact Pingree jumped out to an early 13 point lead before Corey Millhouse responded with an 80 yard kick-off return for the first of his three touchdowns. Natale, Smith, and Johnson again put up the points for the offense, aided by the likes of Matt Murchison and Melvin Wells who provided some formidable blocking on the line. It was Millhouse who put the game away with a stunning 65 yard interception for a touchdown.
The team has little time to bask in the glow of the 3-0 start. On Friday at 6:30, they host FAA rival St. Luke’s of New Canaan in a game that quite likely could determine the league crown. Come on out to see the Swarm take out the Storm. Go Hornets!
