Message from the Head of School

Hamden Hall Country Day School is an independent, college preparatory, Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 day school.  We are unique in our commitment to providing children of all ages with a strong academic curriculum in a supportive community environment.  Our core values  excellence, support, participation, accountability, and respect  are the essence of our school.  We expect students to respect all members of our community and to strive for excellence in all areas of school life.

The value of a Hamden Hall education is evident as students move through the Lower and Middle Schools, where each child is inspired with a real love of learning, as well as an appreciation for individual growth.  The combination of a solid academic foundation, participation in a varied curriculum, the development of strong study skills, and working with an outstanding faculty, gives students the confidence and motivation to push themselves academically.

With a healthy Upper School enrollment of 250 students, we are able to offer a wide range of academic and athletic offerings at all levels while being small enough to encourage each student to push him or herself intellectually, participate in the arts, varsity athletics, and ultimately in Advanced Placement classes.  Three-quarters of our seniors typically enroll in AP courses.

The value of a Hamden Hall education continues long after graduation.  We are committed to making our world a better place by instilling in our students not only a love of learning, but also a sense of personal integrity and social responsibility.

I hope you enjoy exploring our website. Please feel free to call the school to arrange a tour and visit. We welcome you and your children to meet our students, faculty, and staff.

Robert J. Izzo, Head of School
